On the other side, there is Titus, a commander from the Knights Templar. The Knights Templar were a Catholic military order fouded in 1119. In Ertrugul’s first set up, they are seen as the strong, powerful force. Kayi tribe, while being strong warriors with over 2000 tents, are operating from tents and the Knights Templar have great forts.
The soldiers of the Knights Templar are transporting prisoners which includes Halime, her younger brother and her father, Numan (Numan is the exiled prince of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum). In a bid to escape, Halime’s father gets injured. Halime and her family is attacked by the soldiers before they are rescued by Ertugrul and his men. Ertugrul kills Bisol, brother of Titus.
This is what sets off the next chain of events. Ertugrul brings Halime and her family to his clan that raises many eyebrows.
Suleman Shah is briefed by Ghazanfar, a trader, who has brought many gifts for Suleman Shah, which Suleman refuses and asks to be distributed among the needy. Ghazanfar tells Suleman that Seljuq rulers may have won over Konya (a city in Turkey that was ruled by Seljuq Sultans) but Constantinople is being destroyed. Suleman Shah is also told about how the Crusaders (Catholic armies) did not consider Muslims their friends.
